Both the Central YMCA and the Davis Family YMCA are gearing up for their newest fitness program for kids between the ages of 8 and 13. Akron Children’s Hospital, in partnership with Kohl’s Department Stores, introduces Future Fitness Club at the Y to address the childhood obesity epidemic.
The Future Fitness Club features fun, non-competitive activities to promote healthy fitness and eating habits, safe, gradual weight loss and incentives to help kids meet their fitness goals. Activities include obstacle courses, rope jumping, swimming, relays, games and circuit training.
Future Fitness Club begins September 10th. The eight-week program at the Central Y runs through November 2nd and is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, pool day, from 6:30 – 7:30pm. Club cost is $30 for both Y members and nonmembers. Stop at the Central Y front desk or call 330-744-8411 to register by Sept. 7.
The six-week program at the Davis Family Y runs through October 19th and is held Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 – 6:30pm and Friday, pool day, from 5:00 – 5:45pm. Club cost is $22 for both Y members and nonmembers. Visit the Davis Y or call 330-480-5659 to register by September 7th.
The Central YMCA is located downtown on the corner of Commerce and Champion Streets in downtown Youngstown. The Davis YMCA is located off of McClurg Rd. in Boardman.
