Meeting on Mon., Aug. 26, the Boardman Board of Education approved a contract for some $10,800 to provide adapted physical education classes of 45 minutes each, once a week, to special education students at Robinwood Lane, Stadium Dr. and West Blvd. Elementary Schools, as well as at Center Intermediate School. The adapted classes will be taught to Glenwood Jr. High School and Boardman High School special education students in a combined class. According to Jennifer Scarmack, director of students services at Boardman Local Schools, approximately 40 students will participate in the program. The contract was awarded to Gymsters, ‘The Fitness Program That Comes to Children at Their School.’ According to the agenda of the school board, Gymsters is operated out of 6930 Lockwood Blvd., a single family home owned by David and Elizabeth O’Hara, according to the Mahoning County Auditor’s Office. Classes include motor development, fitness, sports skills and group/team games. |
