The Boardman Boosters topped Pro-venzales, 14-4, to win the Major League Division championship of Boardman Community Baseball.
On the season the Boosters finished with a 23-1 record.
Lou Cardona notched the mound win, sending a dozen Provenzales batters back to the dugout on Ks in the process. His brother, Alex, finished the game in a brief relief stint.
Lou Cardona aided his own cause at the plate, going 4 for 4, incuding a home run. Nick Stamp finished 3 for 4 for the victors, including a pair of home runs.
Other hot bats for the Boosters came from Jimmy Lagese, 3 for 4; while Bobby Mackvick and Adrian Ocasio added two hits each. Alex Cardona and Brian Kordupel added one hit each.
At the plate for Provenzale nine, Mario Damato banged-out two hits, while Stephen Stanko, Jared Jay, Chris Dailey, Koontz and Dante Beato added one hit each.
Rounding out the Boosters roster are Sam Varga, Cade Santha and Frank Bell.
Boosters 11 - Gia’s 0
In semifinal tourney play, Stamp twirled a complete game, three-hit shotout as the Boosters beat Gia’s. Stamp finished with 9 Ks.
Lou Cardona again went 4 for 4, with Stamp went 3 for 4, including a double and four-bagger. Alex Cardona added three hits, while Lagese and Mackovick added two hits each.
David Dutko had a pair of hits for Gia’s.
Boosters 10 - Cailor-Fleming 1
Varga, Lou Cardona and Stamp combined for a dozen Ks to pace the win in opening round playoff action. Bigest hit for the winners was a four-bagger off the bat of Varga. Ty Dill had the lone hit of the game for Cailor.
Boosters 4 - Aaron’s 3
The Boosters won their 20th straight game, as the cardona brothers and Varga combined for 18 Ks in the game. Lou Cardona notched the mound win. Varga’s home run in the bottom of the sixth sent the game into extra innings. A Stamp base hit plated Lou Cardona with the winning run.
Sean Sullivan and Mike Melewski each had a pair of hits to feature at the plate for Aaron’s.
Aaron’s 11 - Boosters 9
Aaron’s spoiled the Boosters bid for a perfect season in the final game of the year. Pacing the winners at the plate was Sean Sullivan who went 3 for 4, while Mike Melewski and Dom Stilliana added two hits each, and both rapped doubles. Lowery notched the mound win.
