A law suit filed in federal court by a mother and her daughter seeking $12 million in damages for cyberbullying from the Boardman Local Schools, Boardman Community Baseball and close to a dozen children and their parents has been dismissed.
The action had been filed by Atty. James Gentile on behalf of former Glenwood Middle School student Dara Genovese and her mother, Tonia.
Their claims gained wide recognition, from the floor of the Ohio Statehouse and on national television.
The Genoveses have since left Boardman and moved to Illinois. They claimed to have been victimized through e-mail and postings on Facebook.
The school system faces a second suit on cyberbullying, filed by the parents of teenager Hannah Rose Sadlowksi, Beth and William Sadlowksi, of 7705 Huntington Dr.
In filing the suit, Atty. Gentile said the Dara Genovese became depressed “to the point of needing psychological counseling well into her adults years.”
The Sadlowski suit alleges the 14-year-old daughter “was bullied, harassed and intimidated both on and off school grounds.” |
