Mr. Nik Amstutz swept the race for the Boardman Board of Education in Tuesday’s general elections, finishing as the top vote-getter among four candidates for two seats on the board.
Incumbent Mr. Ken Beraduce was ousted, finishing third behind Mr. Fred Davis Mr. Davis was elected to the seat previously held by Dr. Robert DeMarco, who resigned two years ago.
Both Mr. Amstutz and Mr. Davis have previously served on the Board of Education.
Mr. Amstutz is the third member of his family to serve on the school board. His mother, Mrs. Barbara Amstutz, served from 1976 thru 1979; and grandfather, Clarance ‘Stutz’ Amstutz, served from 1949 thru 1957.
Mr. Davis previously served two terms on the board, from 1994 thru 2005; and
Mr. Amstutz previously served from 2006 thru 2009.
Mr. Amstutz garnered 6380 votes, while Mr. Davis received 5264 votes. Mr. Beraduce had 4615 votes, and newcomer Mr. Jim Hruska had 2662 votes.
Among the key tasks Mr. Amstutz and Mr. Davis will face during their term will be to find a replacement for Supt. Frank Lazzeri, who is expected to retire within three years. |
