DIAMOND STEEL donated this 11-ft. blue spruce to Boardman Park last week where it will be used for a Community Christmas Tree. The tree will be dedicated in the memory of Mr. Clarence Smith Sr., who founded the company in 1928. It operated on Raupp Ave. in Boardman, until moving to North Lima a year ago. The tree was planted in the park last week. Pictured at the planting, from left, Jerry Blasco of Blasco Commercial Services; Nevin Lesnoski, park groundskeeper; Gabe Manginelli, park maintenance tech; Pete Cordon, park maintenance tech; Jim Feret, supervisor; and Mr. Collins. “This blue spruce, known as picea pungens glauca, or ‘Fat Albert’, will serve as a living symbol of our community’s Christmas Spirit,” Park Executive Director Dan Slagle said, adding “We would like to thank David Collins of Diamond Steel who has most graciously donated the tree in memory of Mr. Clarence Smith Sr.”
