  GAINS WINS IN PROSECUTOR’S RACE
  March 8, 2012 Edition
IN A SPIRITED RACE, INCUMBENT MAHONING COUNTY PROSECUTOR, Paul Gains, of Harrington Ave., Boardman narrowly defeated challenger Jay Macejko, current Youngstown City Prosecutor, in Tuesday’s March primary elections, 16,385-15,824. Gains got no support from the County Democratic Party that had backed Mr. Macejko. The Boardman-based South County Democrats had endorsed Mr. Gains. Mr. Macejko also had been supported by Mahoning County
Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti, who also supported Austintown Trustee
David Ditzler for county commissioner. Ditzler won by a wide margin over Buzz
Pishkur. The primary elections showed uncontested Dem incumbent 59th District
State Rep. Ron Gerberry garner 11,604 votes; far better than Kim Poma,
Boardman Board of Education member who will challenge Mr. Gerberry in the
November general elections on the Republican ticket. Poma received 7,117 votes
on the GOP side of the ballot in the primaries.
