A $4 MILLION FUND-RAISING DRIVE TO BUILD A FOOTBALL STADIUM AT Boardman High School received a boost last Friday when the Boardman Gridiron Club pledged $50,000 to the campaign. The fund-raising effort is being led by the Boardman Booster Club. Serving as honorary co-chairpersons of the drive are former major League all-star pitcher Dave Dravecky; and Carlee Tressel, daughter of former Youngstown State and Ohio State grid coach Jim Tressel. Bill Bonte, president of the executive committee of the Booster Club, said the new stadium will be equipped with artificial turf and will be used for football, soccer, band, as well as special school and community events; and could also be the site of prep playoff grid action. Plans for the new stadium project have been underway for more than two years. The Boardman Booster Club has pledged $100,000 to the project. An athletic training facility, field lighting & all-weather 8-lane track already exist at the site of the new stadium.
