Gorski To Retire From Teaching Post---Would Like To Continue Coaching Track
  March 7, 2013 Edition
The Boardman Board of Education approved a host of personnel-related items during its February meeting.
The board accepted resignations from two, longtime high school teachers, Denise Gorski, physical education instructor; and Paul Rice, math teacher and head of the high school math department. They will retire at the end of the current school year.
Gorski has served as head track and field coach for the Boardman Lady Spartans for some 30 years, earning Coach of the Year honors no less than four times. She says that she would like to continue coaching “for at least one more year.”
The school board also accepted the resignation of Eileen Haught, Stadium Dr. resource room teacher; and Glenn Sivak, who formally served as a high school industrial arts teacher.
Sivak came under fire last spring in his role as high school girls volleyball head coach. Since a controversy erupted over the girls volleyball program, Sivak was forced out the classroom last year.
Parental leaves of absence were granted to Robinwood Lane Elementary School teachers Holly Watts and Candice Wright, while Pam Hrusovsky was granted a disability leave of absence, effective Mar. 1; and Stadium Dr.. cafeteria server Raquel Craig was granted an unpaid medical lave of absence, from Feb. 22 through Mar. 7.
Ayda Billet and JoAnne Gardner was hired as cafeteria servers, while Doreen Burin was transferred to West Blvd. Elementary School as a cafeteria server.
Jody Stepan, longtime head secretary at Boardman High School, was promoted to secretary for Supt. Frank Lazzeri,.
Resignations were accepted from Anita Graff, Glenwood cafeteria server; Clint Lepowsky, transportation mechanic; Rosemary Rosko, high school cook; and Mary Ann Russo, West Blvd. noontime aide; and Pat Birch and Joe Cleghorn, assistant varsity football coaches.
Resignations were also accepted from Jeneane Hugus, Glenwood cheerleading advisor; Scott Lenhart, Glenwood track and cross country coach; Kathleen Rothman, Glenwood language arts instructional coordinator; Janet Samdy, Robinwood technology support staff; Eric Simione, assistant high school soccer coach; Richard Sypert, high school fall athletic assistant; and Tom Zetts, assistant varsity grid coach.
