Patrick Donte Howard, 22, of 819 Cambridge St., Youngstown, was arrested at 965 East Midlothian Blvd. on Fri., Mar,. 29 by Lt. Ed McDonnell and charged with felonious assault, aggravated robbery and attempted murder.
Ptl. Paul Poulos said that a caucasion woman, Jessica Lynn Helpy, 25, of 4611 South Ave., #4, had a stab wound on her rear neck and under her jaw, as well as cuts on her left hand and a swollen right eye. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
Police indicated Howard was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
Officer Poulos and Ptl. Matt Sell said they entered the apartment complex at 4611 South Ave. where they saw blood spatter all over the floor and walls.
Police said they saw Helpy, dressed in a black mini skirt, tall black socks and a multi-colored tight-fitting top covered in blood, visibly upset and yelling.
Helpy told police her attacker was a black man, dressed in all black with an afro-do tied-up into puffs on the top of his head.
Helpy told Officer Poulos she met Howard at a Shell gas station on Market St. in Youngstown.
“Helpy stated that she heard that Howard liked white girls and he liked to take care of his women,” Ptl. Matt Sell reported.
According to police, Helpy stated that she wanted to be taken care of, and wanted Howard to spend money on her.
Police recovered a bloody knife, and said when they entered the apartment at 4611 South Ave., they found a Magnum condom on the floor.
Helpy told police she is employed at Victoria’s Secret in the Southern Park Mall.
Police indicated Howard and Helpy may have ‘met’ via a web site on which sexual services for sale can be found. |
