On Mon., May 27 the 109th Boardman Township Memorial Day Parade and Service will get underway beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Market St. entrance to Center Middle School
Parade units will travel north on Market St. and then east on Boardman-Canfield Rd. to Boardman Park where annual observances will be staged at the Maag Outdoor Arts Center.
Groups participating in the Parade will assemble at the middle school at 9:30 a.m.
Gary Rhamy will be the grand marshall and featured speaker at the parade and memorial service.
Rev. Ash Welch, outgoing pastor of the Boardman United Methodist Church will give the invocation. LTC Bill Moss, USAF retired, will lead the pledge of allegiance and place a wreath in honor of deceased American veterans.
Mark Luke of the Boardman Kiwanis Club will serve as master of ceremonies. The Boardman Spartan Marching Band, under the leadership of Tom Ruggieri, director, will lead the parade and provide music for the memorial service.
Expected to participate are Boardman Trustees and other township officials, Fire Police Department personnel, the Boardman Local School Board, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Came Fire Girls, Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions, Boardman Civic Association, antique, classic, and model-T car clubs, ambulance companies and bicycles.
Service clubs will pass out candy to the children of all ages along the mile-long parade route.
