Boardman Township’s Board of Trustees is seeking a public meeting with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to discuss a proposed $20 million project on Rt. 224, from South Ave. to Market St. that many business and property owners suggest will limit access to businesses along the roadway.
“As ODOT is developing changes to Rt. 224 for safety, we hope there is a way to balance the safety upgrades and access along the established commercial corridor,” Trustees said in a letter sent to Sean Carpenter, of ODOT.
“The concerns shared by the property owners with established plazas and shopping centers are related to vehicles (their customers and livelihood) accessing their properties,” they added.
The Trustees asked if they could help “facilitate” an open house and invite property owners to review the plans and address their concerns.
“The changes being proposed are significant enough that we would urge ODOT to meet with these property owners and discuss methodology and give the property owners a chance to voice their concerns,” Trustees said. |
