The Boardman Board of Education was slated to hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. on May 7 for the purpose of approving current East Palestine Superintendent Chris Neifer to be the Boardman Local School District’s next superintendent, replacing Tim Saxton, who will retire July 31.
“After an extensive search process, the board is excited to announce Christopher Neifer will be recommended,” said a press release provided by Amy Radinovic, communications coordinator for Boardman Local Schools.
Neifer resides in Boardman.
“Board members believe Neifer is most aligned with the qualities and experience to fit the needs of Boardman, and that our stakeholders expressed they valued most,” Radinovic said.
Neifer’s 28 years as an educator include time spent as a science teacher, coach, elementary and high school principal, and most recently six years serving as superintendent of East Palestine City School District.
“We believe Chris is a proven leader, as shown through his navigating an unimagined community crisis. He’s a seasoned educator, and as a resident of Boardman with a child attending school here, he is keenly aware of the Spartan tradition of excellence.” said Boardman School Board President John Fryda. |
