  120th Annual Memorial Day Parade And Service Mon., May 27

      On Monday, May 27, Boardman Township will hold its 120th annual Memorial Day remembrance to honor those who have served, are serving, and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while in military..
      The Parade and Memorial Day Service is sponsored and coordinated by the Kiwanis Club of Boardman-Youngstown and Boardman Township Park.
      Groups participating in the parade will assemble at Center Intermediate School at 9:00 a.m. and the parade will begin at 10:00 a.m.
      Prior to the parade, and starting at 9:00 a.m. is the Memorial Mile (a running road race) which follows the same route as the parade.
      The Parade originates at the Center School, then proceeds north on Rt. 7 to the State Rt. 224 intersection, then proceeds East on Rt. 224 to Boardman Park.
      Following the parade, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Memorial Day Service will be conducted at the park’s Maag Outdoor Amphitheater where the keynote speaker will be WKBN talk show host Dan Rivers who two tours during the Vietnam War.
      Lauren Johnson will lead the invocation. LTC Bill Moss, USAF retired, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and place a wreath in honor of deceased veterans.
      The Boardman High School National Honor Society President Ava Freeborough will place a wreath in honor of those currently serving in the military.
      Mark Luke, of the Kiwanis Club, will serve as master of ceremonies. Music for the service will be provided by The Boardman High School Wind Ensemble conducted by Director of Bands Mr. Tom Ruggieri.
      In the event of inclement weather, the Memorial Day Service will be held in the Boardman Park Community Center at 10:00 a.m.
      All veterans and community members can join the service in the park to recognize, remember and express solemn thankfulness for the historical sacrifices of United States military forces to preserve the American way of life.
