MAHONING COUNTY COMMISSIONERS met on Wed., May 22 at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater where they declared the day as ‘Left End Day’ in honor of the legendary rock band. Formed in Youngstown in 1970, Left End has enjoyed an impressive music career spanning over five decades. Left End, dubbed “The Godfathers of Youngstown Rock and Roll” by local disc jockeys, has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music, including the Eagles, Cheap Trick, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rush, Ted Nugent, Steppenwolf, Golden Earring, Trapeze, John Mellencamp, Slade and Michael Stanley. This special day also paid tribute to the late frontman and lead singer, Dennis T. Menass (Dennis Sesonsky), who passed away in 2014. His legacy lives on through the music and memories he created with Left End. Pictured, in center, accepting a special ‘Rocklamatiom’ presented by commissioners is Sesonsky’s daughter, Tasha Stanton. Commissioners, from left to right, are Carol Rimedio-Righetti, David Ditzler and Anthony Traficanti.
