Quincy’s Retirement Sale Has ‘Something For Everyone’
  October 10, 2024 Edition
     oween---or anytime?
Stop by Quincy’s Costumes, 5332 Market St., next to Youngstown Dance Supply and Outdoor Recreation Equipment. They have costumes and much more.
The owners of Quincy’s, Diane and Quinton Franklin Hoover, have announced their retirement and are selling-off an eclectic collection of costumes and other stuff---and that includes two vintage cars, a 1964 Oldsmobile convertible, and a 1970 Cord, not to mention hats, wigs, character and theatrical costumes, assorted memorabilia and pictures.
There is something for everyone at Quincy’s!
The Hoovers first opened their business in 1984, and two years later, along with Diane’s brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Lori Ricciuti, opened the nearby Outdoor Recreation Equipment.
The Hoover’s dance supply business gained a reputation as one of the largest area distributors of dance ware---but their enormous collection of ‘stuff’ at Quincy’s takes the cake!
For example, amidst their collections is a gumball machine, or how about caricatures of the Blues Brothers.
“We have enjoyed traveling all over the country buying ‘stuff,’ and believe it or not, people have traveled here from all over the country for costumes and the other merchandise we have,” Quinton said.
His wife noted “We didn’t look for all this, it just happened.”
While Quincy’s will close later his year, the Youngstown Dance Supply will continue, as it has been purchased by a longtime employee of the Hoover, Jacqueline Doubet Baker.
While collecting and selling their ‘stuff,’ at Quincy’s, the Hoover’s dance supply business flourished, and the company now has stores in Howland, Warren, Chagrin Falls and Solon, in addition to their Boardman location.
“We’ve had a great run here in Boardman,” Quinton said this week. “We’ve been like a treasure here in the Mahoning Valley and have been honored that so many people have visited us over the past four decades. At one time there were more than 30 businesses like ours, and they have come and gone, and we continued to thrive with our vast selection of merchandise and low prices.”
For their retirement sale, everything at Quincy’s will be sold at half-price, Quinton said this week.
