WesBanco clients throughout Boardman Township received notification last week their personal data may have been hacked, including social security numbers. A notification bank clients received was not provided by the bank, but from Marquis Secure Processing Center, a data security company associated with WesBanco. The notification advised clients their accounts may have been hacked more than five months ago, on Aug., 2025 when “a third party accessed their database during a cyber security incident.” Data possibly obtained during the incident included dates of birth and social security numbers. It is unclear if any information obtained during the breach has been misused, Marquis said. WesBanco was formerly Premier Bank with offices located at 7525 Market St., in Boardman as well as others in Poland, Struthers, Youngstown and Canfield. A merger of the banking firms was completed in Feb., 2025 when WesBanco announced the acquisition “added approximately 400,000 consumer and 50,000 business relationships” to its portfolio. |
