County Engineer’s Office Says 24 Trees To Be Taken Down For Roundabout Construction At Glenwood Ave. and Wildwood Dr.

The Mahoning County Engineer’s Office will began construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Glenwood Ave. and Wildwood Dr. in March with the removal of 24 trees. The engineer’s office says the trees “need to be removed by Mar. 31 before the endangered Indian bat returns to the area.” Due to the size of several of the oak trees along Wildwood, crews are going to need to close the street, east of Glenwood, during the day while they drop the trees. The $1.4 million project will be going out to bid soon with construction beginning in late May or June and take a year and a half to complete. The project’s proposed “improvements” along Glenwood Ave. will reduce travel lanes to one lane in each direction with dedicated turn lanes as needed, says the engineer’s office.
