A tentative agreement has been reached in contract negotiations with members of the teachers’ union and the Boardman Local School District, Brandy Barborak, president of the Boardman Education Association (BEA), said on Mon., July 20.
      Barborak said “We have a tentative agreement” and announced a meeting of union teachers was set for Thurs, July 25 to vote on the new contract proposal.
      A three year agreement between the local school board and its teachers’ union expired at the end of June.
      In announcing the tentative agreement, Barborak said “details and information” had to be finalized, and she could “not share any details until the meeting.”
      Last week, Vince Carnevale, a spokesperson for the BEA, said a claim the union had rejected an offer of a 3 per cent pay raise was false and is not one of the offers that have been discussed in negotiations with the Boardman Local School Board.
      “In the interest of bargaining in good faith, we cannot discuss further details. We are laser focused on receiving a fair contract and pursuing a responsible use of district resources in a way that keeps Boardman excellent,” Carnevale said.
