OSU Extension Mahoning County, in partnership with the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, invites the community to attend a November program in the Morning with the Masters garden education series. Led by Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteers and local gardening experts, the free program will offer practical advice and information to help residents improve their landscapes and support local wildlife.
The free program, open to the public, will focus on preparing backyards for winter wildlife and attracting winter birds. Pre-registration is not required.
On Wednesday, November 18, from 11:00 a.m. to noon, Katie Shipka will present “Feeding Winter Birds” at Boardman Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. Attendees will learn how to attract different types of birds, choose appropriate feeders and select seeds. The program will also cover the 5-7-9 rule, a strategy for discouraging squirrels from visiting bird feeders. |
