Forest Lawn Stormwater Park |

A 14.6-ACRE PLOT OF LAND THAT once was the home of Market St. Elementary School, in now the site of the Forest Lawn Stormwater Park. The school first opened in 1950 and was closed in 2019. Since that time, the stormwater park has been under development and is designed to improve drainage flows in the Cranberry Run watershed. Once completed, the park will provide improved surface water flows impacting up to 1,400 homes; and includes the creation of a passive park where people can gather and walk along a lighted sidewalk. The key feature of the site is the serpent-like waterway in the center of this photo where during heavy rainfalls, the stormwater park can to hold up to the equivalent of 9-feet of water spread over the surface the size of a football field. Southwoods Hospital, CEO Lauded By Trustees |

Meeting on Mon., June 7, the Board of Boardman Township Trustees---Tom Costello, Larry Moliterno and Steve Yacovone---recognized the Surgical Hospital at Southwoods and its chief operating officer Edward Muransky.
A proclamation noted that Southwoods “has demonstrated exceptional dedication to healthcare excellence and has been recognized with a prestigious five-star rating for cleanliness from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
“Southwoods stands as the only hospital in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties to receive this honor, setting the highest standard for clinical environment and patient care in our region.”
Under Muransky’s leadership, the proclamation noted Southwoods “has become a pillar of quality, trust and innovation in the healthcare community.”

John Allsopp |
John Paul Allsopp, 51, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 29, 1973, in Youngstown, Oh., a son of the late Thomas Carl Jr. and Patricia Louise Connelly Allsopp.
John was a lifelong resident of the Poland community and a 1991 graduate of Poland Seminary High School.
From 1992 to 2000, John served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
After graduating at the top of his class from the University of Akron Police Academy in 1997, he was hired by the Hudson Police Department before accepting employment with the Boardman Township Police Department in 1999, where he would proudly serve the community in a fulfilling and accomplished 25 year career.
